All of the photographs in this Photo Album were taken by Peggi Armstrong, using film kindly donated by Camera Kingston. Peggi is also the artist who provided the Symposium with its logo depicting the various stages of reality that small archaeological sites go through before archaeologist finally encounter them.

The Donald Gordon Centre on Queen's University campus in Kingston, Ontario. The Centre combines the elegance of XIXth century architecture and XXIst century facilities in a restful and serene setting.

J. V. Wright, Curator Emeritus at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, entertained an over-capacity gathering during the Symmposium Luncheon with tales of trials and trepidation leading up to the publication of his first volume (of 3) dealing with the History of the Native Peoples of Canada. Jim earned his lunch by signing most of the copies of his book that sold like hotcakes at the Archaeo-Market.

John Steckley, the President of the Ontario Archaeological Society presented J.V. Wright with a certificate recognizing him as Ridley Lecturer, a title inaugurated in 1985 in memory of Ontario archaeologist Frank Ridley and bestowed by the Society to recognize the achievements of Ontario archaeologists. In its 11 year history, it has only been granted twice.

The J. Norman Emerson Award is the Ontario Archaeological Society's highest award and is given in recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution to Ontario Archaeology. This year two silver medals were given out. John Steckley is presenting Brian Deller with the medal under the watchful eye of his long-time friend and collaborator, Chris Ellis.

David Croft and his wife Mary, of the Ottawa Chapter of the OAS proudly displays the certificate that accompanies the Emerson medal. In a fine Valley tradition, Dave is the fourth Ottawa Chapter member to have received the Emerson Award (the others are Clyde Kennedy, Gordon Watson and Jim Pendergast).
